Autism Initiatives at Kent State Kent, OH
Autism Initiatives is a division of Student Accessibility Services, Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Autism Initiatives offers 3 programs:
Autism Advocates: An individual on the spectrum doesn’t have to be formally diagnosed can request a mentor that is either faculty or staff. They meet at least 3 times a semester to go over how the student is doing and what is needed. They ca meet many more times.
Pals: Students are paired up with a neurotypical individual to attend social events. This is strictly social and no academic component.
Getting off the struggle bus: A group that meets for anyone to get together and focus on difficulties and work on planning.
