Evergreen State College is an accredited, public liberal arts college located in Olympia, Washington. Formed to be an experimental and non-traditional college, Evergreen faculty issue narrative evaluations of students’ work rather than grades, and Evergreen organizes most students into largely interdisciplinary classes that generally constitute a full-time course load. The current enrollment for undergraduate students is 2,100 and 332 graduate students. Evergreen is unique in that undergraduate students select a 16 credit program for an entire quarter rather than multiple courses. Full-time programs encompass a quarter’s worth of work in everything related to that program concentration, taught by up to three professors. There are no “majors”; students have the freedom to choose which program to enroll in for the entire duration of their undergraduate education and are never required to follow a specific set program of study.
