Iowa State University of Science and Technology, more commonly known as Iowa State University is a public, land and space grant university located in Ames, Iowa, 30 minutes north of Des Moines. The Cyclones choose from among 100 majors and 800 plus student organizations, providing an environment where students can enjoy discovering their potential and their passions. Iowa State has 25,553 students enrolled along with 4,899 graduate students and 588 professional students. The Cyclones field 18 varsity teams in the Big 12 Conference, and they have received national honors for the best student spirit.
